The Great Quest – 2D Side-Scroller Demo

The Great Quest is a short 2D side-scroller demo developed to explore responsive player movement and traversal mechanics. The project focuses on building a solid character controller that feels fluid, readable, and engaging within a platforming context.

The player controller supports standard movement actions such as running, jumping, and attacking, alongside advanced traversal mechanics including wall sliding and wall jumping. These mechanics were designed to encourage vertical exploration and provide players with multiple movement options when navigating level geometry.

Special attention was given to timing, input responsiveness, and state transitions to ensure smooth interaction between movement, combat, and environmental mechanics. The demo serves as a technical and design-focused prototype rather than a complete game, showcasing core gameplay systems that could be expanded into a full experience.
